Hello! For this first post of the year, I will be reviewing a pretty decent card game from Mattel, the company that brought you Uno! The name of the game is Phase 10. It is a fun game for the whole family, but has a bit of rules that need careful explaining, which I will try to do in the next paragraph.
There are a total of ten different Phases to complete before you win the game. Each player starts at Phase one, and try to work their way up to Phase Ten. A Phase is a group of cards that you have to complete in order to be able to advance to the next Phase. As a player completes a Phase, they lay the completed Phase of cards on the table, and then proceed to try to run out of cards in their hand. Once a player’s hand runs out, the current round ends and another begins. Everyone who has already completed their current Phase advance to the next, while the rest who haven’t yet finished their respective Phase have to try again.
Sounds complex, doesn’t it? That’s also what I thought of at first. After some careful reading, I started to understand it and the family started playing it. I haven’t won yet, but each game is very fun and a great way to kill some time that doesn’t involve a device such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
If you have experience of playing various games using the traditional playing cards, then you might easily grasp the rules. But even if you don’t, I still suggest that you give this card game a try! Hope you enjoyed this post! Please leave feedback in the comment section below. Thanks for reading!
